Confirmation Formation Program

Called Up

Parish Liaison: Joanie Hendricks, Director of Children's Formation, [email protected]

Welcome to Called Up, our Confirmation Preparation at St. Patrick. We are grateful to partner with you and your child as they grow in faith and prepare to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.

Confirmation enhances the sacrament of Baptism by sealing the the recipients in the Holy Spirit. It paves the way for the newly confirmed young adult to begin their independent journey of discipleship in the church.

As your child’s primary teacher of the faith, your example, encouragement, and involvement are an essential part of their Confirmation journey. We ask you to pray with and for your child, support their participation, and create opportunities to talk about how they feel called to live their faith.

What is Called Up?

Our new Confirmation preparation program moves faith formation beyond the traditional classroom and into small-group communities where students can grow alongside their peers and trusted adult mentors. Students will be placed on teams that meet weekly for “huddles” outside of the school day. Each team will be guided by a faith coach and assistant coach who will lead meaningful conversations, activities, prayer, and reflection in a relaxed and welcoming setting

This new approach is rooted in research showing that young people are more likely to develop a lasting faith when they are supported by strong relationships with peers and adult mentors. Through these small-group experiences, students will be encouraged to gain a deeper understanding of what we believe, build a stronger sense of belonging, and develop a lasting love for our Catholic faith.

How are you Called Up?

Huddle schedules will be created based on the availability of our volunteer coaches. Families will be invited to share their student’s availability, and each student will be assigned to one team that meets one day per week. While every effort will be made to place students in a huddle that works with their schedule, requested days and times cannot be guaranteed. Team assignments will be determined by coach availability, group size, and the needs of the overall program. Because teams must remain balanced and appropriately staffed, families should be prepared to participate at the assigned weekly huddle time. Teams are encouraged to attend mass together every weekend.

The program will run from September through November, with Confirmation celebrated on December 10.
