Constant Contact Message from 5/4/2021

‌‌Hello everybody!

I want to express my appreciation, again, for your thoughts, prayers, and support in this time of loss. Many of you have asked about mom (LaVerne). She is grieving and she is strong. Step by step, she is moving into a life that has changed in almost all facets with Phil’s death. It can be overwhelming and will take time, but she will do it at her own pace and with God’s grace. Thank you for everything. It is a special time for me to be with and love my own mother, but we are also celebrating Mother’s Day this weekend. We will have the Blessing of the Child in the Womb at all masses and encourage expectant moms to receive this special blessing. You will also have the opportunity to support one of our ministry partners, Little Way, through the efforts of the Knights of Columbus, with a Spiritual Bouquet (details below). Happy Mother’s Day to all!

While we keep in our prayers those who are suffering from the pandemic, in our own community and around the world, we also see welcomed progress toward a new beginning. We have taken a few small steps, ourselves, like the changes to our seating and new parish office hours effective May 10. It is hard to express how moved I was, even, by watching the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. On Friday and again yesterday, Archbishop Kurtz communicated some updated guidelines for the Archdiocese of Louisville and our safe and reverent celebration of the sacraments. We have begun to discern the best way to implement the new guidelines at St. Pats and will communicate any changes before they happen. I am hopeful that our increased engagement with the Eucharist will mark more than a return to what was, but is an opportunity for our personal faith and community to grow even more vibrant.

Finally, our new Preschool is open! Please enjoy some of the photos of the space below. It is an incredible blessing for our families and an important advancement of our mission made possible by your generosity to the Beacon of Hope campaign. Thank you for your support!

God bless you and keep you in his loving kindness.

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Highlights

St. Patrick Preschool in their new HOME! Thanks to the generosity from our Beacon of Hope capital campaign donors, the preschool is finally open. After several internal moves throughout the school's campus, including classrooms in the Celtic Center, the main floor hallway, and the cafeteria, the St. Patrick Preschool, which was founded in 2015, moved into its new, permanent home on Monday, April 5, 2021. The new facility includes four state-of-the-art classrooms, a director's office, a staff restroom, and a 2,300 square foot outdoor play area. Each classroom is approximately 800 square feet and includes a WiFi access point, an interactive whiteboard, storage, sinks, and a student restroom. The Preschool currently serves 38 students ages 3 and 4, but projects nearly doubling in enrollment next school year. Families interested in enrolling their 3 or 4 year old should apply online

From Mrs. Barton, Preschool Director: “The preschool team has been awesome in completing the last move of the year over Spring Break. Everyone jumped right in to complete this major task with much enthusiasm. The preschoolers were so excited to move into our new building and begin using the playground. It was like another first day of school. There was even one preschooler who, once she saw her new room stated, "Well it is a new room but with our same toys!" It is hard to believe that we have been in our new building for exactly one month. Everyday is a new adventure not only for the preschoolers, but for the teachers as well. We are constantly working on the best strategies in using the new space, especially before we double our size in students for the 2021- 2022 school year.” Thanks to everyone who made this happen!

Mother’s Day Spiritual Bouquet: The Knights of Columbus will be outside on the church plaza this weekend with more information on how to participate to support Little Way.
